Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-22
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of A Founder's Friend (the "Service"), operated by Storyroots Oy ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Agreement
By accessing or using the Service you confirm you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. The Service
A Founder's Friend helps founders turn raw inputs (audio recordings, transcripts, notes) into polished stories and platform-specific variants using AI. Features include transcription, tone profiles, custom prompts, supporting assets, and public author profiles. We may add, remove, or change features at any time.
3. Your Account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity on your account.
- You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
- One account per person. Don't impersonate others.
4. Subscription, Pricing & Refunds
- The Pro plan is €12 per month, billed in advance through Stripe, and renews automatically until cancelled.
- Prices exclude applicable VAT, which will be calculated and charged at checkout based on your country.
- You can cancel at any time via the "Manage subscription" button on the Billing page. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
- Payments are non-refundable except where required by EU consumer law. By starting to use the Service immediately after subscribing, you acknowledge that the 14-day withdrawal right under the Consumer Rights Directive ends once the digital service has been supplied.
- We may change prices for future billing periods with at least 30 days' notice.
5. Free Tier & Quotas
The free tier allows you to create 1 story root with unlimited platform variants. The Pro plan includes 100 story roots per billing period with unlimited variants. Quotas reset at the start of each billing period. We may adjust quotas with notice to reflect operating costs or to prevent abuse.
6. Your Content
You retain all ownership of the content you upload or create on the Service ("Your Content"), including transcripts, recordings, generated stories, and variants.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely as needed to operate the Service for you (including sending it to the processors listed in our Privacy Policy and displaying stories you publish on your public profile).
You are responsible for having the rights to any content you upload, including any audio containing other people's voices, photos of identifiable individuals, or third-party material.
7. AI-Generated Content
- AI outputs are generated from your inputs by third-party models and may contain inaccuracies, biases, or fabrications. Review and edit before publishing.
- Identical or similar inputs may produce similar outputs for other users. We make no exclusivity guarantee on AI-generated text.
- You are responsible for the AI-generated content you choose to publish or distribute.
- Do not use the Service to generate content that is illegal, defamatory, infringing, deceptive, or harmful.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose
- Upload content you don't have the right to use, or that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights
- Upload audio recordings of people without their consent where consent is legally required
- Generate or publish content that is defamatory, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit involving minors, or otherwise prohibited by law
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or circumvent quotas or security measures
- Resell, sublicense, or expose the Service or AI features as your own product without written permission
- Interfere with the operation of the Service or other users
9. Public Profiles & Publication
When you publish a story, its content (title, body, cover image, your author name and avatar) becomes publicly accessible on your profile page (e.g. /profile/your-username) and discoverable via search engines. You can unpublish or delete a story at any time, after which it will no longer be accessible — but cached copies may persist outside our control.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service depends on third-party providers (Lovable Cloud / Supabase, Lovable AI Gateway, ElevenLabs, Stripe, Google). Their availability and behaviour are outside our control. See our Privacy Policy for the full list and their data handling.
11. Our Intellectual Property
The Service — including the software, design, prompts library, branding, and documentation — is owned by Storyroots Oy and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in our brand or software beyond using the Service as intended.
12. Suspension & Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time and request account deletion by emailing us.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or if we are required to do so by law. Where reasonable, we will notify you first and give you a chance to export your content.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties (express or implied), including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. AI outputs are not professional advice (legal, medical, financial or otherwise) — verify before relying on them.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) €100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or your statutory consumer rights).
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland. Disputes will be resolved by the courts of Helsinki, Finland, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence requires otherwise.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
